Author description

Richard Platt has been writing books for children since 1992, completing more than 60 published titles. Pirate Diary (Walker Books) won a Smarties Silver award and a Blue Peter award. Incredible Cross Sections (Dorling Kindersley), on which he collaborated with illustrator Stephen Biesty, was selected by The Guardian as one of the three greatest children's books of the 1990s; the series as a whole sold some five million copies. This is Richard's first book for Carlton. He lives near Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
