Reviews

"A sweet story of friendship and understanding written and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. Full of interest, bright colours and expressive faces, this is an ideal book to read to young children - As well as enjoying the story, children will like noticing all the extra details. And with its padded cover and sturdy binding it is a book that wil last as well as a story that will endure." The Scotsman "Full of lovely detail, this is a delightful story about being brave and taking turns." Booktrust "My three-year-old loves this reassuring series of the emotional highs and lows of toddler life - a great starting point for discussing issues like sharing and fears for young children." The Bookseller "Another wonderful story in the world of Pip and Posy! - I love how applicable this series is to young kiddos, specifically toddlers & preschool age children. In both of the books we've read thus far the characters are in everyday situations that have been, in our experience, things happening in their lives right now." There's A Book

Author description

Axel was born in Hamburg, Germany. At school he was good at art, but didn't think of a career in illustration until he won a cuddly purple cow in a drawing competition. He moved to England in 1982 to learn English and study illustration at the Bath Academy of Art and then set up home in London. Axel illustrated a number of books for various publishers, and in 1993 Kate suggested him as the illustrator for Julia Donaldson's first picture book text, A SQUASH AND A SQUEEZE. This was the start of a hugely successful partnership. Axel has illustrated a number of other highly successful books, including MUDDLE FARM, and his books have been translated into 42 languages. Axel lives in London with his partner and young daughter.
