A long-time fan of Bruce Springsteen, his first music article was a cover story on the Devils & Dust tour. He appears regularly on radio shows including Live Wire! Peter Ames Carlin is a renowned journalist, critic and author having been a senior writer at People magazine and TV critic for The Oregonian. He is the author of Bruce, the best-selling biography of Bruce Springsteen published in 2012.

This book discusses the critical acclaim Bruce has attracted since the beginning of his recording career, and the way his albums have reflected deeply felt passions and concerns, from the state of the American working man in The River and Nebraska, to the highs and lows of personal relationships in Tunnel of Love; from the bleak visions in Darkness on the Edge of Town to the often unrecognised anger of Born in the U.S.A.
