Anne Stokes is a British fantasy artist who loves to use symbolism in her images to express emotion or sentiment. In her early career, Stokes created designs and commissions for merchandise and publishing companies, but as her career progressed she has been able to develop and license her own designs and concepts. She has said that she finds this amount of creative freedom to be very rewarding. Stokes often works by sketching her ideas out in pencil before putting them onto a graphics tablet to achieve the intricacy of detail present in her art. Her inspiration comes in many forms. "England has a rich history, with wonderful medieval and gothic architecture that inspire my designs," she said, "but I also find inspiration in nature and fantasy stories and film."
